Adventurer, Run Away

Vivek comes from a well known and wealthy family originating in the Duke of Reamakal's city. Vivek's father, Jarek, raised his family status and wealth in the city by importing and selling slaves caught from the very southern coast. It is there a race of small, dark skinned people try to make a life for themselves. Vivek's father would travel to this coast with what constituted, almost, a small army, to trap and enslave these small people and return them to Reamakal to be sold off to the highest bidder. This enterprise made him very popular with the current Duke, for he was very fond of the small women of the race for his bedchamber. Of course Vivek's Father would always allow the Duke to be the first to choose from each new consignment. It was on one of these expeditions that Vivek met Gregorey. Nine years before our story begins, Vivek already had great misgivings over the slave trade his family profited from and had fought and argued with his father to stop and invest in other enterprises just as profitable, but to no avail. Then one evening, along came Gregorey. He rode into a camp of almost fifty men, drew his sword and freed two carts full of imprisoned slaves. On exiting the camp he stopped before Vivek's father and with the tip of his sword placed a small cut on each side of his neck. Looking down from his horse, watching the blood drip slowly down to Jarek's collar bone Gregorey said, almost in a whisper "When our paths cross again in this country, I will join those two cuts and these people will be safe." Even on his own as he was (not counting the bear cub of course) no one even tried to stop him.

As Gregorey rode on, having seen all that transpired, Vivek saw his life's opportunity. He chose to leave behind the life of a slave trader and rode out after Gregorey.

Vivek is now twenty-nine years old and has not seen his father since he left his camp to follow Gregorey. As the first member of Gregorey's troop Vivek worked hard and learned quickly. He had been trained to use a sword from a very early age, but Gregorey wanted more. Vivek mastered the long bladed sabre and the two short stabbing blades Gregorey required his entire troop to wear. As he practiced his swordplay so his body responded. He had always been tall, over six feet, now he filled out. His shoulders broadened as the muscles in his shoulders, neck and back grew to cope with requirements he put on them. As did his chest and legs. He allowed his thick blonde hair to grow, more because he didn't have his mother to cut it for him than any conscious decision to have long hair. To keep it out of his way he tied it around a small yellow bone, the bone of a dead slave from one of his father's expeditions. A very obvious reminder for him of what he left behind. His face was clean of hair, his chin long and angular, his nose similarly long and sharp. Over his very dark eyes his brows are fine and blonde to match his hair.

Vivek is the closest companion Gregorey has here in this world and Vivek's commitment to Gregorey comes before everything in his eyes.
